Six Sentence Sunday

I joined a group on Facebook that does this really cool thing every Sunday. The authors post six sentences from something they've written and everyone comments. I have chosen to take my six sentences from my upcoming novel, Never Say Just. I had a hard time deciding which six brilliant sentences I should post, so I thought of a number in my head, went to that page and pulled six sentences off that. Here you go, six sentences from Never Say Just.

So here's the set up. Hell Kat and Shooter have returned from the Jefferson Ball, a New Orleanian tradition where all the best of debauched society come out to play, and have been been busy making whoopee. Hell Kat realizes there is something about Shooter she doesn't know, but really needs to know.

I lay in his arms for a while when something that had been bugging me all night sprang into my head. This particular annoyance grew louder and louder until it could not be ignored. I nuzzled his chest and with all my might tried not to sound like a slut; “Shooter, I never thought I would ever be in bed with a man and ask this question, but it’s one I need to ask and I need an answer.” I could feel his pecs tighten under my head. “Um, what is your name?”

He roared with laughter. I’m glad he finds this so funny, but I really do need an answer.

  4. Hey Katie, I love the post. But, I'm wondering, do women really feel like a slut when they ask that question? For a lot of men, it's the kind of question they're used to asking the morning after. Great First SSS Post and welcome to the NRW family. I guess this means you're not a virgin anymore :-)

  11. She's known him for a few weeks. As a Rat Bastard, Shooter doesn't give up his name easily. Hell Kat does eventually earn it. ;)
