Flash Fiction Friday

Does this nice lady look happy to you? 




Derek could feel it. This was his last cigarette. He was a condemned man, his executioner, Tess. As a woman, she knew everything. Why did he have to date a woman? Because he preferred their toolbox to a man's. But, why? Why had he done that? And with her sister of all people? That was stupid. He knew exactly why. Because Tina had convinced him Tess would never know. He’d been weak, he’d been vulnerable and Tina had exploited his defenseless state. Tina had been cruel. You don’t do that to a man. It’s just mean.

Derek peered down at Tess. The look on her face said she was going to eat him alive. If she knew he’d gone shoe shopping with her sister, she wouldn’t have the courtesy to kill him first.
