Six Sentence Sunday

As a Boudreaux, Hell Kat is often called on to perform different civic duties. Here she is judging a beauty pageant.

I loved asking the girls questions that made them squirm. One year I asked a contestant what she thought of the current situation in Darfur. She said she loved animals too much to wear fur. It had been an epic fail. It had been beautiful. She won.

  4. That's another reason why you have to love this country. It doesn't matter if a person is dumb as a box of rock, she just long as she's good looking. Katie, you have an insightful sense of humor and you're a good writer too. Very Good.

  7. I've never concerned myself with beauty pageants for the women seem so shallow and the requirements to win are offensive to womankind. Great job.

  9. Aaaawww!! Ya'll are so nice.

@Graylin: I would love to put all the mean girls I went to high school with in a beauty pageant today. Chances are they'd be fat, wrinkly, trapped in a loveless marriage, have three horrible children, and still not be able to form whole and complete sentences.

@Murdersandmysteries: I know right! During the last Miss America pageant a contest actually said, "I watch Game of Thrones. I love history." News flash, Game of Thrones is a fantasy about warring countries and dragons. If she's a history buff because she watches Game of Thrones, I'm an astronaut because I watch Battlestar Galactica.

@Ben: True, true, true. Their go to answer for every question should be, "I have no freaking clue, but look at this amazing rack/smile combo."

@Pablo: A agree pageants are offensive. But I don't think they are exploitative. The young women actually sign up for this crap.

@Ray: Aren't you the sweetest. I'll return the favor.
