What is Anger?

Have you ever been so pissed you wanted to kill something? I’m not afraid to admit it, I have. I’ve been so pissed that’s it’s a good thing I didn’t have a button connected to an intercontinental ballistic missile with a nuclear warhead. If I had, the survivors would be in an all-out death match for the last Little Caesar’s Pizza on the planet. I have been mad to the point of going Dexter on an unsuspecting populace.

Lately, I have had another sampling of that anger. No one did anything to me. My anger runs much deeper than a personal slight. Someone I love is going through a tragedy. Her husband passed away recently. I am so pissed that the Universe would allow that to happen to someone I love. I’ve been through this before. I lost my husband five years ago. I am so pissed that I will have to watch her go through the same pile of shit I’ve been dealing with. Why does this happen to good people?

I actually know the answer, and you aren’t going to like it. The answer is, because life sucks. Life sucks hard and the sooner you come to terms with that the better off you’ll be. Of course all this suckitude is balanced out by all the awesome moments. Talks with friends, hugs from family, laughs with those you hold dear are what make life worth living. If life consisted of only the good would we recognize it? No, we wouldn’t. If we only experience happy, happy, joy, joy our whole lives we wouldn’t have an appreciation for it. Being dragged down to the deepest, darkest, blackest pits of hell is the only way we can appreciate the light. Next time you find yourself without a flash light, look up, I’ll be there.......pointing and laughing. {{HUGS}}

  1. Awesome post. You're right, we do need the bad and the good so that we appreciate it. But we also need the bad stuff (maybe not the horrible stuff) so that we can vent that anger. Otherwise, I for one, would explode. Of course, that's probably why no one gives me access to that cool red button the president has... :)

    Guess we have lots to learn, and to stop feeling sorry for our self. Pick up on own shit and move to the next day or hour!!!!

  3. You are right about all of it. Bad things happen to Good people. It is life, we survive it and try to get stronger and move on. But sometimes the desire to "destroy" gets real strong in me too. Then I put the music on loud, dance till I fall into a heap and just cry. It is cleansing. Then I stand up, put my battle gear back on and get ready to "slug it out again". I sometimes hear the Conan the Barbarian cliche in my ear..."What doesnt kill us, makes us stronger". BS, but what the hell it works for me.

  4. Well said, Katie. Life is about free will and the unexpected. It is only when we learn to accept the bad with the good that we ever find peace.
    Everything is fragile which is why we must appreciate every moment.
    Yes, it still sucks.
